Birthday Message

A Birthday Message - tell 'em how you feel!

A well crafted, meaningful message can speak volumes. One special way to enhance any theme is to make the grand finale, the cake moment or climax to the event, the reading of something quite personal or momentous to the Birthday Person.

We focus on cards and cake in western culture.  It's almost an assumed thing that there will be a cake of some sort, a gift and a card with --  usually -- a message that someone else has written!!

Can we go beyond this? Sure!!

Why not change that all and use a special message as the center piece.

This can work very well for any age and situation.

Best Birthday QUESTIONS
  • What do you want to say in the message - in simple terms?

  • Why is it imortant to you?

  • What impact do you want to create?

The ideas around this are endless.

You could go the well worn path of the GREETING CARD and scan web-sites , newsagencies and supermarkets looking for the "right thing" to say. But then someone else has said this!!

There are fabulous books of poems and web sites that have birthday messages and appropriate offerings. Let's target out search a little with these favorites of ours:

How about a joke? OR create a song. with your birthday person having their name and juicy things you have mentioned included in the lyrics.

Be mindful of the  Backfire Factor in setting up some of these things..a scroll thru Embarrassing moments.

Best Birthday CONSIDERATIONS
  • Make the message fit the person.

  • Think about timing.

  • Choose a delivery method -- card, email, newspaper ad, mini DVD -- that you can do well.

  • If verbal - Practice!! If written - spell check & make sure it's readable.

Like many things it depends how you deliver the message. Is it you who will deliver it, written on paper, sent in the mail, written  in the sky, tattooed? Think it through.

There is lots to consider.

How about these quick ideas....

Jig Saw Message
Broken up in torn pieces and hidden in spots you know they will go during the day may be a fun way to go. They grab the pieces and put them together like puzzle.

Sing me a Song
How about singing it to them at a Karaoke Bar?

Scroll Me
Have a scroll made up like a proclamation Get everyone to sign it / stamp their finger prints / lipstick kisses ..use your imagination. Makes a great keepsake.
