Let the Music do the Talking
Question: What's the most popular song on Earth?
Happy Birthday to You, of course!
Have you ever wondered why songs and music are so
popular?
Look at every culture on the
planet. A some level they all link music with celebration. Be it chanting, rave
nights, rites of passage etc they all feature music of some kind.
I love this quote from a very famous Party Girl.
"Music -- it's primal and it's
visceral...
It's about coming to life"
Madonna GHV2, 2001
Let's use this to enhance our parties.
It's all too easy to droll out another sad and tired
version of Happy Birthday to You. And maybe that's OK. But if you want a lasting
memory spice it up!
Best Birthday

I went to a party once, a 16th, where the host
-- from a local family I grew up with -- used song as the theme for the party.
Back in the late 70s there was a change in the way music was presented to the
masses and the types on offer. You had disco, punk, New Romantics, Rap, Soul,
Funk, C & W, Rock 'n' Roll, Reggae and so many more. Added to this, video
clips had just hit the TV sets and CDs and MTV were just around the corner. It was
an amazing time.
Thanks, er...Dad. What about he story...

A few thoughts on using Songs and
Music.
How about...
Karaoke - all
together and having a ball? Why not?
International Flavor to the day
- great idea at school or welcoming new friends. Provides a Cultural interest.
Replace the words with your own
-- always a comic favorite.
Wananbees -- dress up
an play the air guitar. "Hire" an up-and-coming band. They need the gig, you
need the impact. Check them out first!
Background Music -- always essential. Keep it low
and blend it perhaps with your theme.
Themes? Compilations are huge!
Punk 80s; Hip Hop Heaven; Glam Bands of the 70s...pick one and make the
music drive the party.
Surprise them with a Masked Sing-a-gram: Make it you!!
Serenade? For the
special someone. Grab some friends and go Birthday Caroling - even when it's not
Christmas time.
Best Birthday SUGGESTION:
Use more MUSIC and Song. The very nature of it taps into our emotions. This is a
primal connection. It's timeless and it works.
